Andrés Mérida(Algeciras, 1964) has lived in Málaga since 1970. He began his professional artistic career in the 1990s. He studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Seville and his career took off through exhibitions in and outside Spain. His works can be seen in New York, Mexico City, Hong Kong, Dortmund, Guadalajara, Lisbon, among others.

His work was influenced from the beginning by artistic movements of the 20th century; expressionism and surrealism Because of this, he created his own universe and style from which he is easily recognizable.

In the first decade of this century, he traveled for long periods to the US and Mexico, where he held several exhibitions and began experimenting with performances, live painting and inter-actions with other artists.

At the technical level, he experiments with digital art combined with traditional techniques. He also introduces a new expressive source into his works through what he himself calls "GARIBATISM." This consists of making circular strokes with which he sometimes creates recognizable forms . Other times they appear as pure abstract decoration.

This new way of working is the result of years of research with influences from artists such as Giacometti or J. Pollock.

He is currently working on new exhibitions and collaborations with other artists. A more recent example is his collaboration on the set design for the show "SOMBRAS" by the great flamenco dance artist Sara Baras.
