Born into a family of architects and interior designers, Annegien de Bruijn (1970) sat next to her father at his drawing table from an early age. She learned from an early age to look at the world around us with a certain gaze, being aware of lines and shapes.

"Creating is my passion. Figurative sculpture and conceptual art are my main motivations. My work is mainly based on themes of human behavior, emotions and contemporary issues. With my work, I want to make certain stories visible. I try to approach life's challenges with humor and a different perspective and make people aware of social issues. I like to use different sculpting techniques. I just love the challenge of variety and discovering new materials."

She studied psychology at the UvA (University ofAmsterdam), took various painting and sculpture classes with artists and institutes and eventually studied 'Spatial Design and Sculpture'at Crejat in Alkmaar. Her interest in human behavior and emotions is often expressed in her sculptures. Events or news items that surprise or intrigue her are the source of inspiration for her sculptures. She chooses the stylistic approach best suited to convey the meaning and emotions of a piece.
