My name is Julia Matías and I am a multidisciplinary artist, working mainly with paint, video and photography. I am currently completing my university degree in visual arts in Malaga, having also done part of my studies in South Korea. As an artist, I presented one of my videos in the "Present Absense" exhibition at Salisbury University.

Photos and videos allow me to show pieces of the world through my eyes. Little moments of serenity, of the world just being. By traveling and capturing what I am drawn to, I can create a representation of the purity of the world and nature, and use it as inspiration for my paintings.

For me, painting is an opportunity to get to know myself and discover what I am sensitive to, what is natural in me. The brush stroke and the play of art itself allows me to create and feel without limit, flowing with the paint. Seeking to feel alive and full, aware of the world around me. I am fascinated by the unpredictability of paint and all its possibilities. I tend toward undulating shapes that make the eyes dance, enter a peaceful space. I create new and curious universes, which are the result of the interaction of many different factors. It is a breath of life.
